Lovin Bloglovin

I don’t know about you, but I love surfing the internet. I could spend hours (and sometimes I actually do) just flicking around on websites reading the news, catching up on celebrity gossip, and learning random and often useless facts.

I also love reading blogs. As a freelance writer, I read blogs for a number of reasons. Some I read to keep up to date with latest trends or news in my chosen niches. Some I read to develop relationships with the people who write or run them, some I read just because they are great.

Whatever the reason, I read quite a lot of blogs, and the question of how to follow them and keep up with the latest posts is always an issue. There are so many ways to follow a blog it can be hard to juggle them all.

If someone I like blogs on WordPress too I can follow them in my reader. Others I can follow via Twitter or Facebook, or sign up to RSS feeds or email subscriptions. This is all well and good, but what it means is I have to jump from one site to another checking whether there are any updates, and my inbox is steadily filled with emails alerting me a new post, most of which I don’t have time to read when the email arrives and then often forget about later.

Then, while I was surfing the other night, I discovered something that has made everything easier. I was reading a blog, decided I liked it, and wanted to follow. This blog had an option to follow via Bloglovin so I did a little investigating. I found with Bloglovin I can sign up for an account, search for the blogs I want to follow, add them to my list and get a neat little update waiting for me whenever I log in which tells me how many unread posts I have on each blog and gives me the synopsis or beginning of each one. I’d never heard of it before but I’m lovin it, so, I give thanks to Trista from Fifty Shades of Mom on whose site I found it.

If I can’t find the blog I want, I can enter the URL and add it. I can sort the blogs into groups to make them easier to manage and instead of separate emails from each blog announcing new posts I can get just one from Bloglovin.

I’m sure I am still spending too much time reading blogs on the internet, but I’m spending less time keeping up to date with what is happening on them all now.

Do you spend a lot of time reading blogs? How do you keep up to date with them all?

Oh goodie! I will have to check out Bloglovin because I am in the same boat it sounds like you were in. I have RSS feed blogs, WP blogs, blog notices coming to me in email form and the list goes on. I am finding more and more of them are falling through the cracks because I can’t keep track of them all. It is very frustrating and time consuming. Thanks for the information.

  2. Bloglovin is my favourite too! I love how they provide photos and little summaries so you can decide what to read. I agree it is very hard to organize your reading when you come to appreciate so many blogs! I didn’t realize you could sort the blogs into groups in Bloglovin, though. I will have to investigate! 🙂
